Fish are fish. Certainly Alaska is against farms due to their offshore industry and their Republican Senator routinely sides with Democrats in their opposition to agriculture, but if people are going to eat healthier fish and not have it be a meal for wealthy progressives, there needs to be more of it. Yet environmentalists routinely demonstrate their eugenics origins by opposing catching more fish, which keeps it less affordable. They even endorse products that are worse for sea creatures, like ropeless crab gear, because pitting government lawyers against each other is a great way to get settlements for their organizations.

America protects marine life better than any country in the world. We also risk marine wildlife all over the world by importing 90% of it rather than catching our own.
The Obama administration was certainly hard on fishing but environmentalists love when Presidents solve problems that don't exist and they are outraged that President Trump signed an executive order stipulating that the existing spaghetti bowl of tangled, competing, and contradictory regulations must be...evaluated.

That's it. That is the big change that has $3 billion in environmental groups and all of the anti-science activists who haven't left Twitter for Bluesky claiming Gaia is collapsing. This was the same stuff they claimed when America didn't enact the Clean Power Plan, even though by 2017 the emissions target of 2025 had already been met. This was the same hysteria about water pollution when the Supreme Court disagreed with the Biden administration that a man-made pond on a farm was a navigable water of the United States and he might need to park an aircraft carrier there.
Want to really stop pollution? Stop importing 90% of seafood because other countries use science-based regulations and America lets environmental lawyers write regulations for Presidents.
Food, like science and defense technologies, are strategic resources and we should be keeping that money at home whenever possible. Trade and variety is, of course, an important aspect of being the richest country in the world, but seafood people are buying in restaurants has a very meaningful chance of being fake. Americans can't get away with it but the Chinese do, and that means fake products being sold at a premium nearly as high as imported organic produce.
