Commonwealth Business Media's Renee Jacobs and Kathy Keeney were named as Finalists in the Best Executive - Service Businesses - up to 2,500 Employees category in The 5th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run -- worldwide. The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world's premier business awards.
Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word crowned, winners will be announced during a gala event at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York on Friday, November 14. Nominated women executives and entrepreneurs from the U.S. and several other countries are expected to attend.
More than 1,200 entries were submitted for consideration in 50 categories, including Best Executive, Best Entrepreneur, and Best Community Involvement Program. Commonwealth Business Media's Kathy Keeney and Renee Jacobs are Finalists in the Best Executive -- Service Businesses -- up to 2,500 Employees category.
Kathy Keeney is Publisher of the Rail Group for the Directories Division of Commonwealth Business Media. Kathy, a role model for women in the railroad industry, has been with CBM for 23 years, and is well respected among her industry peers. Her responsibilities include editorial, sales, marketing of several industry-leading railroad publications, web sites as well as trade shows.
Based in San Diego, Renee Jacobs has been the Conference Director for the Journal of Commerce (JOC) Conferences Division since 2002. Over the past six years, Renee has increased the number of conferences and exhibitions held each year by 85%. She has been responsible for the expansion of the conferences into the Canadian, European, South American and Asian market and in February of 2009 will launch the first annual Breakbulk Transportation and Exhibition conference in Singapore.
Finalists were chosen by business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging. Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges Advisors and their staffs will select Stevie Award winners from among the Finalists during final judging.
