LONDON, June 12 /PRNewswire/ --
DaltonsBusiness.com has been in existence since 2002 and averages 3,500,000 page impressions every month. Following a significant six-figure investment and over nine months of extensive development, the new site became the latest addition to Daltons' 140-year publishing history on 29 May 2008.
The site is built on the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) platform: a brand new architecture that provides the DaltonsBusiness.com digital team more flexibility than ever before. "We spent a lot of time in consultation with both our advertisers and our day-to-day users," said Paul Harrington, Digital Operations Director at DaltonsBusiness.com. "Our new systems are faster, more responsive and dynamically different to what was already a leading site in the Businesses for Sale market."
The DaltonsBusiness.com team have enhanced the site's search engine capabilities, inventory management and profile allowances; business agents can now upload keyword-searchable descriptions, image slideshows, business videos and supporting documents to their online business details. "This is a truly digital platform for a complex market," says Tony Arnold, Managing Director of Daltons Media. "Buyers often want to see everything from turnover figures to storeroom dimensions before they approach a business seller; we're now set up to do that."
The site's email management system has also been re-engineered to meet the changing demands of SMEs across the UK. As well as saved searches and enhanced business alert emails, the new site will automatically inform buyers when a business that matches their search criteria becomes available.
"This is all for free," said Tony Arnold. "Previously, we had a low-cost subscription model in place that showed sellers who the serious buyers were, but we always wanted to make the site free access for users. Now that we have other methods in place to prove who the serious buyers are, we've been able to provide free registration for everyone."
The new site also allows greater room for additional content that fills a crucial need for SME buyers and sellers across the UK. "Registered users can get sector-tailored, personally relevant news content sent directly to their email," said Paul Harrington. "Small business owners in the UK make up a significant portion of this country's economy; our expert advice and news sections are built to cater for their information needs, and rightly so."
DaltonsBusiness.com has also reviewed its additional directories; small business owners can now browse designated franchise and business opportunities for sale directories, get in touch with commercial finance suppliers and specialist trainers, and find out about business events in their local area. "SMEs are our primary audience; we want to continue to be their primary resource," said Tony Arnold.
DaltonsBusiness.com have also hired a designated Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) division, to ensure that advertisers are getting the largest and most accurate exposure available. "We're already bringing in massive page impressions, especially given that we're predominantly a UK site," said Paul Harrington. "We're confident that with the new SEO, we can further increase the traffic to our site and improve our already established search engine rankings."
