- Security Industry Veteran Leads Session on new Web Threats Facing Government Agencies and Ways to Combat Them
SAN JOSE, California, June 3 /PRNewswire/ --
Finjan, Inc. a leader in secure web gateway products, today announced that CTO Yuval Ben-Itzhak will be a presenter at the 11th Annual New York State Cyber Security Conference. Co-sponsored by the NYS Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination (CSCIC), the University of Albany, State University of New York, and the New York State Forum, the Conference brings cyber security professionals from state and local government, academia, along with the private and non-profit sectors to focus on emerging cyber security issues, what cyber security tools are available and how to use them. The Conference will also provide attendees with examples of best practices that have relevance for all organizations.
Ben-Itzhak's session, "Cracking Down on Malware Targeted Toward the Government Sector," will take place on June 5, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. - 9:15 a.m.
"Crimeware, Trojan horses and Keystroke logging are just a few examples of malware that have become a nuisance and time drain on IT teams, and are currently fighting an uphill battle to combat these threats," said Yuval Ben-Itzhak, Finjan CTO. "Since malware is increasingly becoming more and more obfuscated, it may seem impossible to predict future attack patterns. Moreover, malicious code is just as likely to be accessed through legitimate websites (e.g. government, financial, or healthcare) as disreputable websites (e.g. websites with adult content). In fact, recent studies indicate that nearly 30,000 infected web pages are being created every day, and 80% of these pages are located on legitimate websites. With this kind of malicious activity, stopping malware has to be a top priority for organizations."
In his session, Ben-Itzhak will provide an overview of the recent web threats today and will also:
- Explore the anti-forensic technologies behind the latest web threats targeted toward government websites - Examine the mounting challenges in malware detection - Show real-world examples of malware that have an impact on legitimate government websites - Recommend methods to stop malware before it impacts government organizations and members of the community
The 11th Annual NYS Cyber Security Conference takes place June 4 & 5, 2008 at The Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany, NY. For more information visit: http://www.cscic.state.ny.us/security/conferences/security/2008/index.cfm
