HERNDON, Virginia, January 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- DB Schenker's objective of this global on-demand service with working title 3S-WMS ("Small, Simple and Standard"), is to offer the Softeon solution to its global warehouse landscape. With global availability and minimal efforts to implement, support and operate, the Softeon solution optimizes for the unique needs of the different industry verticals in their large customer portfolio. A license agreement was executed with a commitment for deployment to a significant number of DB Schenker sites worldwide.
"With the launch of this IT service a WMS implementation has less time-to-market than the procurement of a scanner," states Michael Brandes, Senior Vice President Logistics Engineering, Corporate Contract Logistics/SCM at DB Schenker Logistics. "For small and mid size businesses with basic requirements, we are now able to configure the WMS in days to match our customer's requirements. Additionally, DB Schenker Logistics and Softeon Inc. have agreed on an attractive commercial offer for this on-demand service to achieve the best possible value for our customers."
Following the implementation of three pilot sites in Germany, Ireland and the US that operate consumer and electronics business-the DB Schenker IT service awarded the Softeon solution the "ready for deployment" status effective from November 1st, 2010. In the following months, DB Schenker Logistics plans to start offering this service in more-and-more countries to its customers, while migrating selected locations to the new platform in parallel.
