About Richard William Interest in Darwin began as a college student at the University of California, Irvine while studying for a Bachelors of Science degree in biology and later studying at the University of Southern California for a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. During this time, evolution and Darwinism was taught as a scientific fact. Interest in evolution has continued through my professional career as a clinical pharmacologist. Eventually I developed a series of presentations on the history of evolution starting in 2001. After a number of speaking tours, the idea of writing a book gained momentum. By 2003, the first drafts were starting to fall together. Now with over 1,000 references, my book Darwin, Then and Now, The Most Amazing Story in the History of Science is all about who Darwin was, what Darwin said and what scientists have discovered in the past 150 years since the publication of The Origin of Species in their own words.
