Every other month American journalists gleefully proclaim that communist China is spending more money (at least according to China) and producing more papers and that America is finished.

And every other month there is some new evidence of fraud, unethical behavior, and just churning out junk. Now, eight articles in PLOS ONE and seven in Transplantation published between 2008 and 2014 involving kidney and liver transplants were withdrawn due to concern they were from executed people and that was not known to editors or reviewers at the time. China is a little sketchy about ethics anyway and there is zero chance any of these studies involved informed consent.

Look for hundreds more to follow if journals start asking the awkward questions of Chinese research they should have asked all along.
