HARTFORD, Connecticut, August 6 /PRNewswire/ --

- Comprehensive Portfolio of Benefit Products and Programmes Available in September

Aetna (NYSE: AET) announced today that its international health and group business, Aetna Global Benefits (AGB), will begin offering products and programmes to European Union-based multinational corporations and their employees on international assignments. Available in September, this robust portfolio demonstrates Aetna's commitment to deliver world-class benefits solutions to multinational employers and international assignees. This offering also represents the first integrated product solution between AGB and Goodhealth Worldwide since the recent acquisition.

AGB understands that multinational corporations have unique needs when managing their international employee populations. In response, it has developed a comprehensive portfolio of benefit products and programmes to keep employees and their families healthy and informed so they can complete successful assignments. In Europe, this offering will be insured by Ireland-based Aetna Health Insurance Company of Europe Limited (AHICE), which as a result of the recent acquisition of Goodhealth Worldwide, is helping to lead Aetna's growth in Europe. AHICE, which received an overall "A" rating by Standard & Poor's, is licenced to offer benefit products and programmes throughout the European Union.

"This offering leverages the strength of Aetna with the local presence and expertise of Goodhealth," said Martha Temple, vice president and head of Aetna Global Benefits. "Together, we can provide high-quality, concierge-level services to our European-based constituents."

The new portfolio will be offered alongside a full array of existing Goodhealth products for the individual, small, medium, and large group markets.

To engage employees, AGB has created tools and information specifically for globally mobile populations, including:

- An International Service Centre that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and is staffed by multicultural/multilingual employees. - A password-protected member Web site which offers personalised access to member benefits and claims information, global doctor and hospital search tools, quick answers to benefit questions, claim forms and filing instructions, health, travel and news articles, translation databases for medications and medical terms, and global security information.

"Our tools and resources can ease an employee's transition to and from an international assignment and can help employees make the most out of their health care," Temple added.

Additionally, Aetna remains committed to providing advisory and commissioning support services to Primary Care Trusts and other Commissioning Authorities in the United Kingdom. The company, through its business unit Aetna UK, can assist these organisations in improving patient outcomes and reducing overall costs through various services that include data management and decision support, and care and resource utilisation management.
