BIS' Head of Service Delivery, Mandy McRae adds We have a client who is currently undertaking a sizeable office relocation in the City. This has required BIS to deliver a completely new dark fibre network for them. Their entire move was put at risk because a large colocation vendor ignored repeated requests, spanning almost a month, for the quotation and provision of cross connects. She continued, This is clearly unacceptable, and when you consider that BIS routinely quotes, accepts orders for AND delivers cross connects in 24 hours, you can see why clients are reconsidering their options. Fortunately, BIS was able to sort the issue for the client, but the amount of time required to coerce the vendor into addressing the matter and the stress this caused the client was unnecessary.
As a consequence, some companies are turning away from larger managed services organisations in favour of smaller vendors such as BIS who are gaining market share.
