LONDON, February 10 /PRNewswire/ -- ITC Global Security, (http://www.itcsecurity.com/) a specialist information security and secure networking firm, has been awarded a multi million pound contract by Fujitsu, (http://www.fujitsu.com/global/) to deliver and deploy network (LAN and WAN) transit technology and WAN optimisation in 48 sites across the globe. The project will replace and standardise legacy technology, and is the first phase of a third party global transformation programme spanning 284 sites in over 90 countries.

The Cisco-based switching ( http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/index.html) solution, incorporating Enterprise products across the product range, sized appropriately for each site (including 2900, 3500, 3750 and 6500 (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/index.html) platforms), is engineered to a common architecture and integrated with existing network equipment. Deploying a consistent architecture using a common platform is forecast to reduce connectivity costs significantly and increase network performance, manageability and flexibility. Additional business efficiencies from the less complex network infrastructure include enhanced business resilience with greater operational continuity and the flexibility to scale the solution without increased hardware costs. Network maintenance and management costs will also be reduced.

To enhance network performance, ITC will undertake an optimisation project utilising Citrix WAN optimisation ( http://citrix.com/lang/English/home.asp) technology across sites with high wide area network latency (in excess of 120 ms). Users will experience enhanced application performance between multiple office locations including accelerated file transfer and significantly faster network-based communications, such as email. Other benefits include improved performance of 'non-accelerated' applications with the bandwidth previously used for other processes dedicated to operations such as IP telephony and other streaming media applications. Reliable and fast data recovery technology will enable users to quickly regain access to critical applications and maintain their productivity.

The contract includes international logistics management, consultancy and network design by dedicated ITC specialist network engineers working alongside Fujitsu project managers. Other elements include application pre-configuration, installation and integration in all sites. ITC has deployed three lead technical architects to cover EMEA, Asia and the Americas and will utilise its own system design and engineering teams to carry out on-site installation and implementation.

John Smith, Business Director, Private Sector Division, Fujitsu UKI commented: ITC has proven relevant experience delivering networks globally and are able to provide a package that enables us to meet the strict timescales required by the project.

Tom Millar, Managing Director ITC Global Security Ltd, commented: Over the past five years ITC has managed similar projects, delivering networking and security services to over 100 countries. ITC is experienced in managing the requirements of large global programmes and has a proven track record of on time, on budget delivery to multinationals. ITC's strengths lie in leveraging existing processes and real world experience to meet strict deadlines and deliver a successful project. ITC and Fujitsu have worked together on customer projects for many years and we look forward to working with them.
