DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, June 8, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Sources today opened its 4th Annual China Sourcing Fair in Dubai, the largest Greater China-products exhibition ever to be held in the Middle East. Growing 18% compared to last year, the event features over 1,310 exhibitor booths. Co-located with the 2nd Annual Made in India -- India Sourcing Fair, the events are to be held June 8 - 10, 2010, at the Dubai International Convention Exhibition Centre.
We are very pleased to open the largest China Sourcing Fair ever in Dubai, said Tommy Wong, President of Global Sources Exhibitions. With the expanded Made in India -- India Sourcing Fair, we offer importers and volume buyers throughout the region a wide selection of manufacturers from the world's two most attractive sourcing markets -- China and India.
Officially opening the events was H. E. Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade. Also joining the opening ceremony were:
-- Mr. Gao Youzhen, Consul General, Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Dubai -- Mr. Xie Qinshen, Commercial Counselor, Economic Commercial Section, Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Dubai -- Mr. Zhang Baojun, Chief Representative, CCPIT CCOIC Office in the Gulf Area -- Mr. M.K. Lokesh, Indian Ambassador to United Arab Emirates -- Mr. A. Sakthivel, President of Federation of Indian Export Organisations
The China Sourcing Fair features manufacturers of consumer electronics, fashion accessories, gifts and premiums, home products, baby and children's products, and hardware and building materials.
The India Sourcing Fair expands this year under the Made in India theme to bring to Dubai an expanded array of some of India's most competitive exporters of home products and handicrafts, gifts and premiums, fashion accessories, and garments and textiles. The Made in India -- India Sourcing Fair is supported by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).
Both events are exclusively for importers, traders, and other volume buyers who purchase consumer products for resale to markets throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. More than 10,680 qualified buyers from 102 countries and regions attended last year's events.
The growth of the China Sourcing Fair over the years in Dubai reflects the expanding demand for China-made products throughout the Middle East, said Helal Almarri, CEO of the Dubai World Trade Centre. With the expansion of the India Sourcing Fair to include a wider selection of Indian exporters, it is clear that these events are both filling a need in the marketplace among the region's importers, and helping to facilitate trade between the Middle East and Asia's experienced exporters.
