PARIS, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Mrs. Lily Safra announces that she intends to donate to ten charities all proceeds potentially available from a deposit made on the sale of Villa Leopolda, which has now been halted.

Both King's College, London, and Imperial College, London, will each be given a donation of EUR1m for neuroscience research.

Mrs. Safra comments: By transforming the purchase deposit into an act of giving, I would like to encourage all who can do so to support medical research, patient care, education, and other important humanitarian causes during these times of economic uncertainty.

The funds would be available from a deposit made by those who had wished to purchase the Villa Leopolda and who have since decided not to go ahead with the transaction.

This latest giving continues a long tradition: together with her husband, Edmond J. Safra, Mrs. Safra has supported countless charitable organizations over the course of decades. She continues this work as Chairwoman of the Edmond J. Safra Foundation, which has since given hundreds of millions of pounds to worthy causes worldwide.
