AMSTERDAM, September 14, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading events organiser UBM Live today announced that it expects the attendance for CPhI Worldwide, the annual flagship tradeshow for pharma ingredients, now in its 21st year and the year being held in Paris, to exceed the 25,000 seen at last year's event, held in Madrid. Along with co-hosted events - P-MEC Europe for equipment, machinery and technology; ICSE for contract services and packaging; and BioPh Europe for the biopharma sector - CPhI Worldwide spearheads the world's leading pharma services industry events, to be held at Paris-Nord Villepinte, from Tuesday 5 to Thursday 7 October.

CPhI Worldwide provides industry professionals with a global platform on which to do business and to address their pharmaceutical ingredients, bio-solutions, machinery, technology and outsourcing needs in a single location. The networking opportunities at CPhI Worldwide allow visitors to meet with pharma professionals from over 125 countries.

Four years ago, when the show was last in Paris, attendances topped 22,000, while the 2009 Madrid events drew attracted more than 25,000 people, commented CPhI Brand Director, Annemieke Timmers. Based on the pre-registration numbers seen so far, which are 6% up on 2009 levels at this time, we fully expect the 2010 attendance to top all previous years. Exhibitor numbers are also up, currently standing at 1,934, a significant jump from the 1,808 we had last year. This steady increase in attendance underlines the recognition of CPhI, ICSE, BioPh and P-MEC as the industry's premier annual meeting place.

Continued evolution

As with any industry-leading event, CPhI Worldwide is continually evolving, mirroring the changing nature of the markets it serves and providing not just a place to do business, but also an educational forum designed to help further add value to the overall event experience. For 2010, CPhI is introducing zoning and, for the first time, the show floor will be divided up into six different zones, designed to make navigation easier. The zones - APIs, Custom Manufacturing, Intermediates, Fine Chemicals, Excipients and General - were introduced as a result of extensive exhibitor and visitor research and will help visitors find exactly what they are looking for, which equates to 'more talking, less walking' and a more focused show experience. In addition, a number of features introduced in 2009 will once again feature, including a pre-show seminar series, taking place on the afternoon of October 4th, which this year focuses on 'Global Sourcing and Contracting Strategies.'

Designed to stimulate lively debate around current sourcing issues from a wide range of industry perspectives, the first ever Pharma Outsourcing Roundtable will run on the 6th October at ICSE, and features representatives from major pharma, the legal profession, custom manufacturing, excipient producers and formulators, and CROs. Topics will include re-making RD processes, streamlining manufacturing networks, and exploiting the untapped opportunities offered by the growing economies in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The panel will consist of very senior, highly experienced supply chain and outsourcing professionals from some of the world's largest bio/pharmaceutical companies.

Another first for CPhI Worldwide is the launch of a new mobile website, which is accessible through http://www.cphi.com, http://www.icsexpo.com, http://www.p-mec.com and http://www.bioph-online.com. The website will allow exhibitors and attendees to easily access event information including floorplans, exhibitor information and schedules directly from their Smartphones. The popular Breakfast Briefings will return on all three mornings of the event, while other highlights will include the seventh annual CPhI Innovation Awards, which received a record thirty entries this year, and the 'Speaker's Corner' taking place at CPhI and ICSE.

CPhI and its associated events have continued to flourish even during the worst recession in recent history and this has been very gratifying, concludes Annemieke Timmers. We continue to evolve the events to meet industry demands and again go back to the synergy that exists between them and the fact that all aspects of the pharma industry are represented in one place. As visitors from years' past have told us, there are wonderful opportunities at these events to meet new people and create lasting business relationships.

The annual schedule of global CPhI events also includes CPhI India (Mumbai, 1-3 December 2010), CPhI Japan , CPhI China (Shanghai, 21-23 June 2011) and CPhI South America (Sao Paolo, Brazil, 24-26 August 2011).
