LONDON, July 8 /PRNewswire/ --

Planalytics Inc., the global leader in Business Weather Intelligence(R), released its June WeatherCall(SM) report highlighting shifting weather patterns throughout the month that resulted in equally inconsistent consumer demands. The conditions varied, with rain constantly threatening to interrupt the short periods of sunshine experienced throughout the country. Businesses were faced with disappointing sales on seasonal products, save for lawn and garden-based industries, who managed to profit from prime conditions for plant and lawn growth.

The start of the month was volatile, with some regions experiencing monthly highs and lows in the same day. Rain was a frequent happening throughout Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern parts of England, while temperatures stayed consistent with past June averages.

"For retailers hoping to maximise full margin sales prior to the promotional period, sales were very disappointing and promotional offers abounded," commented Tim Morris, Managing Director for Planalytics Europe.

Planalytics WeatherCall Report showed positive year-on-year weather driven demand indices for the following product categories on a national level: Lawnmowers (+37%), Sun-care Products (+1%), and Salad Foods (+1%).
