SALT LAKE CITY, August 25 /PRNewswire/ --
- New IT Services Company Makes First Acquisition; Delivers Software, Hardware and Consulting Services to Companies with Up to 5000 Users
Founders Steve DeWindt and Dave Taylor, in conjunction with vSpring Capital, today announced the formation of Sparxent, Inc., which was established to provide software, hardware and IT consulting services to mid-market customers. Sparxent also announced that it acquired NetworkD Corporation of Newport Beach, California and has signed a letter of intent to acquire Arbyte of Moscow.
"Although the middle tier of the market makes up nearly half of overall IT spending, there are few dedicated IT resources focused on this segment," said DeWindt, Sparxent co-founder. "We feel that there is a unique opportunity to create a new business model through the marriage of consulting, solutions, integration, development and services that are solely focused on the under-served mid-market."
Sparxent was founded on the premise that the current value-added reseller (VAR) model for the middle market needs to evolve to better serve the segment. For example, mid-market companies in the past have had to choose between traditional VARs with deep expertise in a single vendor's solution, or VARs that sell a broad variety of software but have little expertise in creating integrated solutions for the customer. Sparxent's approach will be to consult with mid-market customers to find and deliver the ideal business or IT solution, regardless of vendor or delivery model, that tightly integrates with their existing environments.
The new company will be based in Salt Lake City. Through the acquisition of NetworkD Group, Sparxent immediately has a large customer base and manages millions of end-users with operations in North America and Europe. With the anticipated closing of the Arbyte acquisition, the company's reach will extend to include 30 regions of the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
Sparxent plans additional acquisitions of solution providers to further broaden its geographic reach and footprint. The company also expects to enter into strategic joint ventures, and make acquisitions of select software development and integration companies. This will enable Sparxent to better serve its customers with customized solutions that meet their specific needs.
"By acquiring established, local IT providers around the globe and bringing them together under one umbrella, Sparxent will act as a single source for IT -- providing the broadest array of expertise and tools to the middle market," said Taylor, Sparxent co-founder. "The key to our comprehensive approach is to bridge the gap between VARs that lack the software competency to provide true integration and software development companies that are not equipped to provide a breadth of consulting services."
DeWindt and Taylor bring more than 20 years of experience each in executive management and global sales, as well as establishing new technology companies.
