LONDON, November 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Telnic Limited (http://telnic.tel), the Registry Operator for the communications-focused .tel top level domain (TLD) which launched earlier this year, today announced that it had been awarded an inaugural UK IT Industry Award. Telnic joined other award winners honoured by the BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, and industry publication Computing, including Sir Tim Berners-Lee, who received the outstanding contribution to UK IT Award.
Khashayar Mahdavi, CEO of Telnic, said: We are delighted to have gained recognition from our industry peers who have recognised our achievements. To be grouped with other British pioneers such as Sir Tim Berners-Lee who has done so much to simplify complex technology for the benefit of the global community is both humbling and gratifying. We thank both the BCS and Computing for this honour.
The UK IT Industry Awards see a new venture between BCS and Computing, merging the BCS IT Industry Awards and the Computing Awards for Excellence to create one platform for the entire profession to celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence. The award reinforces the increasing recognition of .tel's innovative, standards-based service and user-friendliness that sees anyone with internet access set up a .tel within minutes from a PC or iPhone and be found online.
David Clarke, Chief Executive Officer of BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, said: This year's Awards have been exceptional. I was delighted to take part in the judging day and witness firsthand the quality of the winners and medallists. To qualify as a finalist is terrific, to win is an absolutely fantastic achievement, and I offer my heartfelt congratulations to all those took part. They not only provide examples of best practice but also demonstrate how IT is enabling today's information society from entertainment to healthcare, manufacturing to retail.
