AMSTERDAM, September 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading events organiser UBM Live today reported that a record 2356 unique visitors attended its 2010 CPhI South America pharma events, representing an increase of 17% over 2009 attendance levels, and announced the dates and location for next years' events, which will be held from 24-26 August, at the Transamerica Expo Center, Sao Paolo, Brazil.

The co-located events, which took place from August 17 to 19 at La Rural - Hall Ocre in Buenos Aires, Argentina, CPhI South America were joined for the first time by the ICSE pavilion, a dedicated area within the show for contract services and clinical trials, underlining the importance and vitality of these sectors within the South American market.

Returning for its second year as an integral element within CPhI South America the BioPh trail brought together key players, to drive forward the biopharma industry with the aim of providing a fresh focus on biotech as the innovation driver for the whole pharmaceutical community. The 'Match Meet' programme, which was developed especially for CPhI South America, paired the needs of distributors, buyers and sellers with one another to facilitate face to face networking opportunities and focused on API, excipients and finished dosage.

This was the first time that we had held CPhI South America in Argentina and we were very pleased with both exhibitor and visitor levels, commented Eliane van Doorn, UBM Live's Group Director for Pharma. In addition to a 17% increase in visitors, we had over 200 exhibitors from 80 different countries, including India, China, Brazil and Costa Rica. South America is becoming increasingly important in the pharmaceutical industry and as a rapidly emerging market, we expect our annual events will continue to grow in line with market evolution.

Also taking place at the show was the Pharmaceutical Forum which hosted a total of 10 keynote sessions spanning a variety of hot industry topics. Featured speakers included Myriam Tevez, Director General of Foreign Trade for the City of Buenos Aires Ministry of Economic Development, and Ruben Rico, renowned author of over a dozen books about marketing and marketing for exportation.

Now in its third year, CPhI South America was held in the heart of Argentina's pharmaceutical manufacturing hub.
