LONDON, July 18 /PRNewswire/ --

Members of Unite working at Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospitals have voted overwhelmingly by 93% for industrial action after the Trust imposed changes from weekly to monthly pay.

Unite members at Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospitals are planning industrial action from 7.30 am on Monday 21st July including an overtime ban, withdrawal of good will, a ban on call out, no lone working, and a strict enforcement of health and safety procedures. In addition there will be discontinuous strike action commencing at 7.30 am on Friday 25th July until midnight on Saturday 26th July.

Workers are angry about delayed ACAS talks aimed at resolving the dispute. Unite wants the Trust to reverse their decision to impose monthly pay on Unite members who are already struggling with the soaring cost of living.

Unite Industrial Organiser, Brian Nelson said: "The Trust have so far refused to discuss this around the table. Our members do not want to strike but have been left with no option because the Trust have imposed monthly pay.

"Unite believes the decision is reversible . Any changes should be voluntary and not forced on staff without negotiations. This dispute could be resolved if the Trust agrees to urgent talks.

"Many of our members work part-time or weekends and will find the changes hard to manage if they have to wait a month for their pay. They should not have to suffer because of this decision."
