- Exclusive Marketing of Display Advertisement: Yahoo!'s First German Network Partner

MUNICH, Germany, June 10 /PRNewswire/ --

Yahoo! and Netlog announce multi-year partnership in Germany. With this cooperation Yahoo! underlines its position as partner of choice for advertisers in Europe. To take effect immediately, Yahoo! Germany will begin marketing Netlog, one of the leading European social networks, in Germany. The strategic partnership will see Yahoo! deliver display advertising to Netlog. Netlog is an online platform where users can communicate and simultaneously maintain and expand their social network. The exclusive, several-year agreement between Yahoo! and Netlog once again demonstrates that Yahoo! is the partner of choice for publishers and advertisers. In Germany, Netlog's services reach 1.3 million unique users, who spend an average of 177 minutes on its sites and reach a total of 676 million page views per month.(1) Advertising customers can reach more than one-third of all German Internet users by booking a combination of Yahoo! and Netlog.

Netlog is used by more than 30 million people in 19 languages on a daily basis in order to stay in touch with friends, meet new people, share photos and videos, compose blog entries and to connect with other groups of people to discuss music, films, TV, sports, going out, or the Internet. One of Netlog's more recent awards was the Red Herring Europe 100 Award. Netlog also received the "2007 Community website of the Year" for Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy and Spain.

"In Netlog, we have found a strong publisher who is convinced of our extensive long-standing expertise in the area of online marketing and our well-engineered technologies. These strengths make us the partner of choice for the operators of websites and publishers," comments Andreas Ludwig, Director of Business Development of Yahoo! Deutschland. "This agreement with Netlog is yet another decisive step on our path to establishing the largest, most efficient online marketing network worldwide, and provides the perfect compliment for our strong network with partners like ebay in the USA or Bebo in Great Britain," says Andreas Ludwig.

Heiko Genzlinger, Commercial Director of Yahoo! Deutschland, explained the advantages of a new strategic cooperative agreement for advertisers and advertising agencies: "We are very glad to be able to offer our advertisers and agencies an even higher level of reachability within the 15 - 24-year-old target group.(1) The most important feature for this target group and in such an environment is that the users are not disrupted in whatever they are doing. Together with our self-developed targeting solutions, we can bring the right message to the right user at the right time and therefore ensure an efficient direction for successful branding and performance campaigns."

The prognosis for advertising returns within social communities and user-generated content settings is very positive, due to the high level of reachability and popularity amongst consumers: growth from US$1.6 billion in 2007 to US$8.2 billion in 2011 is expected globally.(2) The decisive factor in advertising within the Web 2.0 environment is that the user is also offered entertainment and relevant information, so that the advertising in turn offers increased value.

"With Yahoo!, we've found an experienced international marketing agent with a deep understanding of bringing advertisers and users - especially within the environment of a social network - together successfully. The know-how and the excellent contact people in the sales team, as well as their profound knowledge of the market along with efficient Yahoo! advertising tools create the perfect foundation for successful and exciting collaboration. We're glad to be a part of the Yahoo! network," said Lorenz Bogaert, Co-founder and CEO of Netlog.
