Not sure this is an appropriate forum topic, but it has some immediacy for me.
I have collected, over the last forty years or more of membership in many scientific and professional organizations, roughly a ton of journals--everything from Soil Science Society of America Journal to botany journals and rangeland science journals and miscellaneous trade and professional publications--and scientific books. Some of my journals and magazines are well organized, others are not. I don't know what to do with this expensive and now outdated collection. I have faced this problem several times in the past, with one move or another, and was able to donate many journals and books to libraries, etc. They are now outmoded, if not out of date--everything is on-line, and i don't think the third world (if it still exists) wants them. I know this is a common problem in the academic world, with retirements and other departures, but I think the university libraries no longer want them and I don't know what to do with these materials.
Any suggestions?
