About Abu Research Fellow-at Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (since May 2008), leading the team of Climate Modelling and Remote Sensing (RS). At BCAS I am leading a collaborative climate modeling project with Bjerkness Cntre for Climate Research (BCCR), Bergen University, Norway along with some other climate and environmental research projects. I worked as Research Associate (RS), (2002-2008) Qatar University and completed projects using MSS, TM, ETM, SPOT, IKONOS, QuickBird, MASTER and RADARSAT data for environmental assessment and monitoring in petroleum industry, Urban planning, Natural Resources Management. I worked on flood monitoring, river morphology, modeling cropping pattern, settlement and infrastructure at Centre for Environment and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS), Dhaka (2001-2002). I started my career as an Assistant Conservator of Forests, Bangladesh Forest Department (1993-2001) and had been involved in Forest Mapping and Participatory Forestry. Currently writing PhD dissertation titled “Application of RS & GIS in Mapping Forest Tree Species Migration in the Tropical Forests of Bangladesh due to Global Warming”. He received M.Sc. degree in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation from ITC, Netherlands in 2001 and B.Sc. (Hons) in Forestry, Chittagong University, Bangladesh in 1992.
