About Ana Ana Penha was born in Portugal and has been interested in environmental issues since an early age. This was the main reason why she did a degree in environmental engineering and in the scope of this program she went to Northern Ireland to study environmental sciences. This was almost 20 years ago. More recently, Ana earned a Master of Science degree in energy management in Norway and Russia, among others. Ana has several publications – both scientific and non-scientific articles – and she was finalist at Famelab Portugal 2013, a talent competition in science communication. She works in the environmental sector. She very much appreciates sharing knowledge with the public and she is enthusiastic about the combination of arts and science. Ana proudly co-founded both “Films&Books”, a project to share interests about literature and films, and “The Attic”, a project to re-use objects. Her most recent passion is a hobby related to the art – and patience – of giving new life to waste materials.
