Submitted thesis in 2010 entitled ‘Prospecting of phenylpropanoids and terpenoids in East Indian Sandalwood (Santalum album L.)’ under the supervision of Professor Satyahari Dey [Plant Biotechnology Lab]. The doctoral work comprised of metabolite profiling, biological activity screening and molecular biology of sandalwood oil and wood biosynthetic pathways and metabolites applying a diverse array of research tools and techniques. During the Graduate Studies he had the opportunity to work in the Isoprenoid group (under Dr. Eva Vranova) in the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory of Prof. Wilhelm Gruissem at ETH, Zurich, Switzerland for four months as an exchange student in Arabidopsis Isoprenoid Functional Genomics.
Served as a Research Associate in the same Graduate laboratory for one year, working on bio prospecting of sandalwood and Amaranthus tricolor genes and metabolites, a sponsored project from Department of Biotechnology (DBT), India. Presently, he is serving as a Postdoctoral research fellow at Center for Chemical Biology [CCB@USM], at University of Science Malaysia, Penang and presently he is working in Rubber Genome Sequencing and Post Genome Discovery Functional Genomics (PI: Professor Maqsudul Alam, University of Hawaii, USA) projects.
Interested in genome-scale data mining, cloning, sequencing, identification and genome-wide characterization of major gene families, construction of a Rubber Database for worldwide users, analyses of evolutionary hallmarks in the genome [synteny, genome duplication, phylogeny], gene expression studies using Microarrays and molecular marker analyses with PFGE etc. He has been Graduate and Post-Graduate level University Topper in Botany in his state universities in India. He has served as a reviewer to Journal of Ethnopharmacology, published by Elsevier Science, the Netherlands since 2011.
