About David A career research scientist, biotechnologist and now educator. I have been privileged to watch a chance discovery on the lab bench translate into a useful clinical product which benefits those who choose to use it. (This is not an endorsement!) I love what I do! (I always wanted to be a scientist, after finding all sorts of interesting creatures at the beach. Being a Aussie, I grew up at the beach!). It dismays me to experience the general apathy and anti-intellectualism that is endemic in today's Australia. I understand that we are not alone. A similar devaluation of science is present in other technologically advanced (Western) societies. Why do we take science for-granted? Its time to reclaim science and change this retrogressive perspective. Our future depends upon it.
