About David In 2008 David was winner of both the Guardian Award for UK Teacher of the Year and Scottish Teacher of the Year. In the same year, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and made a National Teaching Fellow of the UK Teaching Awards. He has since become an Associate of Independent Thinking, visiting schools throughout the UK teaching staff about the imaginative uses of WEB2.0 technologies.

He is a consultant with BBC Learning, and was a member of the Scottish Government’s CfE Excellence Group. David is a Judge for the UK Teaching Awards, the Scottish Education Awards, for the Institute of Ideas – Debating Mattes, and for Jamie Oliver’s Dream Teacher. He is a Visiting Fellow on the Masters in Teaching and Learning for Edgehill University, an Advanced Higher Marker for the Scottish Qualification Authority and a Visiting Tutor to students of the PGDE, Glasgow University.

During the course of the last year, David has been involved in an EU Lifelong Learning Programme looking at Digital Storytelling and the use of emerging technologies in the English Classroom. He is now Deputy Chair of RSA Scotland.

David now works in London as Chief Learning Architect for a Kuato Studios, building the world’s first learning game to utilise Artificial Intelligence.
