About Earl I'm sixty-two,single and have a B.A. in Politcal Science.Retired early with disability and have spent the last twelve years studying cosmology,relativity,astronomy and the concepts of quantum physics.I have a general knowledge of all these disciplines which became a necessity in order to more completely understand and enjoy visual astronomy,which is my main area of interest. Please understand,however,that in no way do I profess to be a physicist or cosmologist!I have conceptual knowledge in these disciplines but leave the mathmatics to the experts on whom I rely.My grasp of the subjects is sufficient for my needs and greatly enhances my enjoyment of stargazing. I live in the Southwest in an area of wonderfully dark skies.My instruments include a 200mm Schmidt-Cassagrain,a 90mm Maksutov-Cassagrain and a 114mm Newtonian telescope.I am a visual observer only at this time.I've been observing for 12 years,finding and identifing galaxies-the more distant and difficult the better! I am fascinated by neutron stars and active galaxies.3C273,a quasar,is the most distant object I have observed,at about 5-6 billion light years distant.Amazing! I was a musician by trade but now limit my playing(guitar) to just fun sessions.
