About Jim Jim began his work with synthesizers as an early adopter of the Putney VCS3 analog instrument (Brian Eno, Pink Floyd, Kraftwork). Jim began work with Norlin Industries as part of the development & marketing team for the Lowrey Organ division's flagship electronic keyboards, the MX-1 and Genius keyboard product lines. Upon leaving Norlin Industries' Lowrey Organ Co. division he formed the electronic music ensemble Civilian Population while working as a software developer and West Coast sales manager for the Commodore Amiga platform in Palo Alto, CA. Jim contributed to Electronic Arts' "Deluxe Music Construction Set", a cross platform education-based release for the Amiga, Atari and Apple computers. This was the best selling MIDI music software program in EA's catalog. During his tenure with the Amiga project, Jim aided Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC), Lawrence Livermore Labs and Los Alamos National Laboratory in sub-atomic particle analysis with Amiga systems' advanced video chip technology. In addition, he became involved with various technology projects in the fields of music production, electronic surveillance systems, wireless communications (WiMAX), and National Security data mining initiatives. In 1998 Jim founded The Fortress of Solitude Studios and is where he records with Civilian Population. Jim plays MIDI-enabled Gibson Guitars and endorses/promotes Music Computing Keyboard Production Stations. Jim is an early-adopter and advocate of KARMA Music Technology Systems. Civilian Population's donation of music was featured in the multimedia event Starry Nights @ Shelby Farms in Memphis, 2009 & 2010 http://starrynightsmemphis.com/web/. Jim is in partnership with and the soundtrack composer for the "The Age of Discovery", "The Disclosure Show" and "The SecretMessageTV" online Pay-Per-View TV Shows with Jon Kelly at http://www.ageofdiscovery.net/ Jim is the arranger, composer and orchestrator of Civilian Population's performance media and is affiliated with Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI).
