About John Dr John J Coleman: Born in Troy, New York, grew up in Watervliet, NY, with many Irish, Italian, Polish, Russian, French and other nationalities. Went to Catholic Central High School in Troy. In the summer, became a farmhand in the Catskills. Applied for and was hired for a lumberjack job in the Adirondacks. In school excelled in Science, math and religious apologetics. Entered a Republican essay scholarship contest on “Should the Constitution be amended to Limit the Presidential Term of Office?” Looked up what the Republicans said about Roosevelt running for his third term, threw in some other quotes and won this scholarship. I passed the competitive exams for the Navy V-12 program. In early June I reported to the Navy V-12 Unit at the University of Rochester and later served on the USS AD-19. After the Navy I continued studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, took graduate courses and taught physics. My first professional job was designing a global seismic system for detecting nuclear bombs. After finishing graduate studies in Physics at Brown University, worked at Boeing, formulating models proving that swept-back wings can resist chance-type failure, which saved the Boeing transport division. Developed models to help win a billion dollar Minuteman contract. Formulated models for aircraft, anti-ballistic missile and aerospace systems. For Space Technology Labs, modeled designs for missile, satellite communication, Star Wars, arms control systems and developed first official estimates of readiness, mission success and survivability for Atlas, Titan, Minuteman, manned orbital, lunar (APOLLO) and Mars space flight systems. Given CIA funds to spy on Russian and German delegates at an International Conference in Oslo. As a Dept of Defense consultant, ranked damage and threat objectives for US and USSR systems, comparing existing and future strategic weapon systems for both sides. Later, used this method to implement Yugoslavia’s communist system called Self-Management. Fell in love with beautiful Ljiljana Milkovic. We became Baha’is together. Tito’s right hand-man, Dr Leon Gerskovic ,said he needed me so he wouldn’t let me leave Yugoslavia. I replied I didn’t know much about government but would get a Doctorate in Public Administration and return. Prince Raimondo della Torre e Tasso sent Dr Stan O’Jack to NYC to brief his friend, U Thant, on the use of my ranking method to resolve international conflicts. But U Thant was on his deathbed when O’Jack arrived. Worked for EPA., building decision models to investigate pollution control strategies for air, water, groundwater and solid waste systems. (Princess) Kaoru Nakamura invited me to her International Affairs Institute, at which was to appear Alex Haley, Mrs. Gorbachev, and Helen Bottell. My paper quoted Chairman Gorbachev’s 1987 talk to the UN. Russian delegates wanted to send my paper by diplomatic pouch to the Gorbachevs. In this paper entitled, “Educational Theme for World Unity,” were strong arguments to end the “Cold War,” including how a catastrophic nuclear winter would wipe out all alive if only 2% of the world’s nuclear devices were detonated. We returned as Baha’i Pioneers to Croatia during the Yugoslavian wars. Became Visiting Professor at the University of Zagreb. Was keynote speaker at two International Conference on Decision Methods. Also invited by the Association of Sasakawa Fellows to help bring peace to the Balkans. Invited by Russian Academy of Science to present my decision models. Created models to mitigate oil spills, locate dams and landfills and to plan Croatian tourism. We now live in the heavenly Desert Rose Baha’i Institute in Eloy, Arizona, where I prepare articles for magazines and a few DRBI proposals. We wish to see China, Ireland and Alaska. and look forward to the worlds to come.
