About Madison I am a twenty-four year old student of molecular biology and for the past seven years I have been a chocolatier at my mother's shop. Although I have learned a lot in chocolate techniques, retail, and management of a small business--this is not my dream job. My passion has always been science and over the years my interests have ranged from topics in microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, and developmental biology. Currently, I am finishing up an undergraduate degree with minors in biostatistics, chemistry, and bioethics and work in a biochemistry laboratory doing DNA recombination, mutagenesis, protein expression, purifications, and hopefully soon---kinetics! I have been extremely lucky to receive advice and support from various faculty at my university Loyola as well as work with an outstanding advanced graduate student. The next step will be graduate school for me and I desire to pursue virology however I am open to the idea that my interest may change. I believe my calling is in research and teaching and I hope to keep working hard to reach these goals.
