About Margaret As a community college English Professor, I am interested in helping to sharpen the voice of the 21st-century humanists that STEM students and workers are and must be. Trained by legendary rhetorician Joseph Williams, author of STYLE: TEN LESSONS IN CLARITY AND GRACE, I have a Ph.D. and M.A. in English from the University of Chicago, as well as a B.A. in English from Pomona College in Claremont, CA. More recently, I have been studying and writing on the role of passion in the workplace and am interested in using what we know about the brain and the heart to help students hone their writing for greater impact. Believing that style is a matter of maximizing the use of given structures, I believe that anyone can be a better writer, sharpen their content, and increase their audience -- and thereby change the world... for the better.
