About Pedro Dr. Pedro H. Oliveira graduated from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in Lisbon, Portugal with an MSc in Biological Engineering (2005). He subsequently received his PhD in Biotechnology (2010) from IST, for his research on genetic instability of nonviral vectors for gene therapy and DNA vaccination.

During this period he was also a visiting student (2008–2009) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Medical School. Between 2010-2012 he was a post-doctoral fellow at IST, during which time he worked on the genetic stability of human stem cells.

Currently, Dr. Oliveira is a post-doctoral fellow at Institut Pasteur in Paris France, where he studies the interaction between mobile genetic elements and bacterial hosts. His main research interests focus on prokaryotic and eukaryotic genetic instability, quality control of biopharmaceuticals and metaknowledge.
