Alastair Clarke
About Alastair
Clarke's stance is unshakably rationalist, as his theories and essays display.
Alastair Clarke is a science writer and evolutionary theorist living in Cumbria in the United Kingdom. He was educated at Oxford and London universities, the latter of which he left before completing his doctorate in order to conduct his own research.
He is the author of two contrasting theories of humour, one interpreting it as a creative, adaptive force, as published in 'The Faculty of Adaptability', the other examining the evolutionary basis for its role as a corrective mechanism to compensate for the misinformation that can arise from either error or deception, as published in 'Information Normalization Theory'. Both titles are published by Pyrrhic House, http://www.pyrrhichouse.co.uk/book-info/faculty-adaptability.php.
'An Introduction to Information Normalization Theory', 'The Attractive Error' and other articles are available at www.alastairclarke.net
His interest in humour began with a fascination with human intellect, which led him to consider its reward status and frequency of activity. Further theories developing his preoccupation with fundamental cognitive faculties are due for publication shortly.
