TOKYO, October 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Germany is the largest photovoltaics market in the world. Double-digit growth rates are expected to continue in the coming years. Market potential for German and Japanese companies in the photovoltaics and energy storage industries will be the focus of the Japan-Germany Industry Forum, which will take place from October 22-24 in Tokyo and Osaka.

The forum is being held with the motto Powering the Future with Clean Energy. The focus will be on investment possibilities for Japanese companies in the German market. It will also identify fields of application for battery technologies. Given the rising segment of renewables in the energy mix, both mobile and stationary energy storage is of growing importance. Japanese companies are currently leading in this field.

The organizer of the forum is Invest in Germany, the inward investment promotion agency of the federal government, in cooperation with the Economic Development Corporations of the federal states and the German Embassy in Japan. The forum will take place for the fourth year in a row. This year's forum is an integral part and culmination of Invest in Germany's Powerhouse Eastern Germany marketing campaign.

Wolfgang Tiefensee, Federal Minister of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs, as well as the Commissioner for the New Federal States, will give the opening speech in Tokyo. The growing importance and importance of photovoltaics will be addressed by Rutger Schlatmann, Managing Director of PV Competence Center in Berlin, Shunji Orita, President of Yamaichi Electronics Co., Ltd. (Tokyo), and Akira Kosaba, Director of the Connector Business Division for Yamaichi Electronics Co., Ltd. (Osaka), among others. Yamaichi established its own semi-conductor production in Frankfurt/Oder. Since then, the successful site has expanded considerably.

Possibilities in energy storage will be presented by experts from Germany and Japan. Dr. Torsten Henzelmann, Partner for Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, will provide information on macrotrends as well as an overview of the future market development. Dr. Christian Dötsch, from the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT in Oberhausen, Germany, will analyze the range of applications for different technologies, as well as pilot projects conducted by companies such as Daimler and Smart. Shoshi Kawatsu, General Manager for the Super Charge Battery Division at the Toshiba Corporation, will use the motorcycle as an example to demonstrate the special features of mobile applications in energy storage. Tomio Tamakoshi, Manager System Engineering, NGK Insulators, Ltd., will introduce the company's energy storage system, which makes NGK is one of the world leaders in this area.

In addition to providing information on the developments and perspectives of both industries, the forum will also provide information on legal and fiscal conditions concerning Japanese companies in Germany.

Federal Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee declared that alone in the renewable energies field, the new federal states have developed into a leading global location. I am pleased that this year Invest in Germany has made it their task to demonstrate these strengths to Japanese investors and point out sustainable successful investment possibilities.
