AMSTERDAM, November 5 /PRNewswire/ -- ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international consultancy, design and engineering company, announced today that it has been selected to provide performance based remediation services under its GRiP(R) program by the U.S. Army Environmental Command at Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Air Field (HAAF) in Georgia and White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) in New Mexico. The total value of the awarded contracts is $33.5 million.

Fort Stewart is located on 279,000 acres of heavily wooded land in Liberty County in southeast Georgia, while Hunter Army Airfield is located on 5,400 acres of land in Chatham County in the southwestern part of Savannah, GA. Cleanup efforts will address petroleum products and solvents in soils, sediments and groundwater at both locations. All work will be performed in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Located in south central New Mexico, WSMR is the largest military installation in the country. It is located in an area known as the Tularosa Basin and is an active installation serving as the U.S. Army's largest rocket and missile development, firing and testing facility. ARCADIS will work closely with the Army and the New Mexico Environment Department to achieve the agreed clean up requirements with respect to environmental impacts from metals, solvents and petroleum products at 21 sites in accordance with regulatory requirements.

We are delighted with these opportunities to continue to demonstrate the value of performance based remediation to both the U.S. Army and the regulatory community. The extensive experience developed under our GRiP(R) (guaranteed remediation program) approach together with our strength in designing and implementing optimal remedial approaches based on our advanced technology puts us in a very strong position to meet the needs of our clients, said Steve Blake, chief executive officer of ARCADIS' U.S. operations.
