ARNHEM, The Netherlands, August 4 /PRNewswire/ -- ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international consulting, design, engineering and management services company, today announced that it will sell Copijn to Hoek Hoveniers from Voorhout, the Netherlands. Copijn, established in 1807, is a design and contracting firm specializing in green amenities projects in the Netherlands. Its sixty staff members will continue to work for Copijn. The company, with annual gross revenues of EUR 6 million, became a part of ARCADIS in 1994. No further financial details were disclosed.

ARCADIS divests Copijn because its activities no longer match those of the Company. ARCADIS wants to be active higher in the value chain and that goal allows no room for the contracting activities as marketed by Copijn. A few years ago, ARCADIS also divested other contracting activities, among which the Bomendienst. Because Copijn wants to continue to offer an integrated product from design to contracting, a continuation of activities outside of ARCADIS appears more appropriate.

Copijn will continue as a stand alone independent brand in the market place using its existing logos and domain names. ARCADIS and Copijn will continue to cooperate closely, among other things on ongoing projects such as the world horticultural exhibition Floriade 2012 in the Dutch town of Venlo.

ARCADIS is an international company providing consultancy, design, engineering and management services in infrastructure, environment and buildings, to enhance mobility, sustainability and quality of life. ARCADIS develops, designs, implements, maintains and operates projects for companies and governments. With more than 13,500 employees and EUR 1.5 billion in gross revenue, the company has an extensive international network that is supported by strong local market positions.
