SINGAPORE, March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- ICIS pricing, http://www.icispricing.com/, the world's leading price reporting service for the global chemical industry, has launched a new daily Xylenes (Asia Pacific) report.
The daily Xylenes (Asia Pacific) report will offer daily spot assessments of isomer grade xylene and paraxylene (PX) written by an experienced aromatics team from ICIS pricing.
The section on isomer grade xylene includes spot CFR NE Asia and FOB Korea price assessments, while the portion dedicated to PX has spot CFR China, CFR Taiwan and FOB Korea price assessments.
The isomer grade xylene and PX markets are closely intertwined. PX is the largest- volume isomer of the mixed xylenes. Around 98% of PX demand comes from the polyester chain via one of its intermediates- purified terephthalic acid (PTA) or dimethyl terephthalate (DMT).
In the past few years, the PX market has seen strong growth driven by increased demand for PTA, which is used in polyester manufacture. In Asia, much of the polyester is used to make fibre which forms part of textiles.
"Isomer grade xylene is an important raw material used for the production of fibre intermediates. With the growing demand for polyester in the coming years, it is important to be updated on the performance of the xylenes-PTA chain. Hence, it is key to read timely, concise, accurate yet comprehensive pricing information on these markets," said Mahua Chakravarty, markets editor, ICIS pricing.
The new Daily Xylenes (Asia Pacific) report is a valuable addition to ICIS's existing daily reporting of benzene, toluene, styrene and fibre intermediates markets in Asia and Europe. The industry has recognised the importance of having the independent and unbiased pricing data that we continue to provide. In many markets, ICIS reported prices are the established benchmarks.
