VICTOR, New York, December 18 /PRNewswire/ --

Kirtas Technologies, the leader in quality, high-speed book digitization, and LexisNexis, a leading provider of information services to professionals in the legal, risk management, corporate, government and academic markets, today announced LexisNexis will join the growing number of organizations utilizing the Kirtas solution for mass digitization of printed materials.

LexisNexis will be the first U.S. customer using the Kirtas APT BookScan 2400RA(TM) to digitize documents from their Academic & Library Solutions division. The 2400RA is the latest offering in Kirtas' growing product portfolio that dramatically increases efficiency by providing enhanced processing power. It enables simultaneous image capture, processing, quality control and optical character recognition (OCR) conversion.

"This is a timely and strong move for us," said Jim Rumple, Vice President Imaging & Manufacturing for LexisNexis Academic & Library Solutions. "The Kirtas book scanner will expand our capabilities to digitize private and historic document collections efficiently and with the highest quality and care. We have high hopes for this project."

In addition to providing high-resolution image capture of 2,400 pages per hour, the 2400RA is also configured for remote access. This enables an image technician to digitize documents in one location while allowing simultaneous processing and quality control from another location. This remote access reduces wait time and inefficiency when transferring files from one server to another.

"We are delighted to be supporting LexisNexis in their efforts to digitize their valuable collection of print material," said Kirtas Founder and CEO Lotfi Belkhir. "Their ability to recognize the need to make significant printed collections digitally available is what makes LexisNexis the world-renowned distributor of information that we all know and admire."
