TEL AVIV, Israel, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Netafim - the world's largest company providing smart water solutions for agricultural industries - has announced that it has joined the CEO Water Mandate organization. This move comes at a time when the entire world must deal with serious water shortages which affect, among other things, food production and sanitation.

Netafim President and CEO, Ofer Bloch was among the chief executive officers of 19 corporations to call on G8 leaders to actively address the issue of water use and shortages during their upcoming Hokkaido Toyako Summit on 7-9 July in Japan. The business leaders all support the UN Global Compact's CEO Water Mandate, launched by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in July 2007.

According to Bloch: "Netafim has championed the conservation and saving of water for more than 40 years. We applaud the growing consciousness of international companies and organizations and their joining in the preservation of this precious resource."

Netafim joins giant international corporations such as Coca-Cola, Siemens, Dow Chemicals, PepsiCo, Levy-Strauss, and Nestle.
