ALZENAU, Germany, December 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The sale of NUKEM Technologies GmbH, Alzenau to the Russian company Atomstroyexport became effective retroactively from the 1st January 2009, after completion of the formal prerequisites.

The Management of NUKEM Technologies welcomes the sale to Atomstroyexport. Managing Director Ulf Kutscher says, With Atomstroyexport we have a strategic investor, who perfectly understands our business and will develop it further. I am convinced that we can extend the activities and therefore also the employment situation at NUKEM Technologies.

NUKEM Technologies is engaged worldwide in the areas of engineering, management of radioactive waste and spent fuel elements as well as the decommissioning of nuclear facilities and, with these areas of activity, fits perfectly into the portfolio of Atomstroyexport. Atomstroyexport is part of the Russian nuclear energy corporation Rosatom and employs approximately 1,200 staff. The company is one of the worldwide leading players in the construction of nuclear power stations.
