- Membership Participation Grows while Coverage Significantly Expands
RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry, today announced a dramatic increase in the amount of timber transaction data that has been submitted to the Timber Transaction Price Service (Timber TPS) in the 12 months ending March 2008. Timber TPS -- a comprehensive and reliable database of stumpage pricing for actual North American timber sales - also saw a 96% increase in the number of participating organizations. This increase in data has improved the reliability of timber prices reported by Timber TPS.

RISI also announced that Timber TPS coverage is expanding from the US South into Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.
"Much of this increase can be attributed to a partnership formed with the Association of Consulting Foresters last spring," said Erik Kankainen, Timber Analyst at RISI. "Also, a number of large organizations have joined the service in the past year and started contributing more timber sales data."
The expansion to cover Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin will give timber buyers and sellers in these areas an interactive pricing resource that doesn't currently exist. "We've worked with various state agencies, consultants, and private landowners, to develop the new coverage," Kankainen continued. "We are thrilled that the partnership with ACF has been so successful and we look forward to continuing to work with them as we expand the footprint of Timber TPS coverage."
