BOLTON, England, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- sQuidcard, the eMoney operator and the University of Bolton, today announces the launch of sQuid eMoney across the University campus.

sQuidcard provides contactless eMoney services for campus and retail locations, on an available-to-all pre-paid smart card. sQuid is free to use, and has been specifically designed to deliver cashless catering solutions, such as those in the coffee bars, deli and bistro run by Catering Academy across the University campus.

sQuid's managing director, Adam Smith, said: Extending our eMoney service into the University is part of our programme to deliver services to the Bolton community and in due course across the North West.

Patrick O'Reilly, IT Director and project sponsor at the University of Bolton commented: We recognise that sQuid's eMoney solution is a great proposition for our students and staff. Not only can they top up their own cards with cash and spend here on campus but they also benefit from being able to pay with sQuid at numerous locations across the Town. It also helps students to budget and keep track of their spending, and it's safer than cash too.

sQuid and the University expect to extend the use of sQuid to other areas of student life, such as parking, photocopying, library and leisure facilities.

sQuid provides students and staff alike with a convenient replacement for cash. The bank schemes have not had much impact thus far and the cost of credit cards for customers and merchants remains a major issue. sQuid is free to use and the recipient cannot get in to debt, making it an ideal method of payment and budget control. Deploying sQuid across the University and the wider Bolton community is a major benefit for students and staff, especially with the forthcoming addition of a travel purse to the sQuid network.
