KNUTSFORD, England, June 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- A recently-completed sixth-form block at The Oldershaw School on The Wirral has benefited greatly from the installation of a Concerto GS public access wheelchair lift.

Supplied and installed by Cheshire-based Terry Lifts, the vertical access platform lift has helped to ensure the school meets all the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.

With its flexible, modular design, the Concerto GS lift was installed easily within an existing staircase of the building. Glass in-fill panels on all sides of the lift not only make it less obtrusive. The panels also ensured that natural light could reach the lift carriage itself, as well as the surrounding staircase and landing areas.

John McSweeney, Sales Marketing Director at Terry Lifts, is as delighted as The Oldershaw School itself with how much the lift has been appreciated:

The Concerto GS has just passed its annual inspection by the local authority, ready for them to take over responsibility for maintenance, said John.

The school was so pleased with the lift, they're now looking into ordering another!

Everyone benefits with a Concerto GS lift

Wheelchair users, building owners, designers and installers all benefit from the attractive, reliable and flexible design of the Concerto GS.

In so many ways, the lift is ideal for installation on either the inside or outside of a wide range of public buildings.

Vertical wheelchair access up to a height of 9 metres opens up new possibilities in building design and gives wheelchair users extra freedom and flexibility.

The modular design of the lift allows it to be assembled with a wide range of enclosure and door configurations to suit even the most awkward sites.

In addition, a wide selection of colours and enclosure options are available - including half-height gate, fully glazed or an external-outdoor package - to ensure that the lift will blend discreetly into the surrounding building.

- The main structure and landing doors are supplied in a choice of three standard powder coated RAL finishes (blue, white and black) and there are seven standard optional colours. - Cabin floors are finished in hard-wearing vinyl available in either Silver Birch or Arctic Blue as standard. Seven further colour options are available on request. - The lift is easy to operate and has illuminated user controls. - Minimal building work is required - the ramp avoids any need for a pit. - A pit option is available for internal use if required.

Reliability and Safety are Paramount

The Concerto GS platform lift is driven by an ultra-reliable and low maintenance self-sustained nut and screw drive. It is British-built and complies with Part M of the UK Building Regulations, ISO 9386-1. The lift also carries the 'CE' mark which means it meets European Health, Safety and Environmental Protection standards.
