About Brandi
Brandi Mike is currently a behavioral instructor with Bridges Educational Corporation. She graduated from Michigan State University, where she gained experience working with at-risk youth and graduated with a B.A. in psychology. She spent several years working as a counselor for teenagers with eating disorders in a group home setting, where she used techniques derived from dialectical behavior therapy, existential therapy and art therapy, and also assisted the lead psychologist in developing behavior plans. In 2008, Brandi began her work with children on the autism spectrum, partially inspired by her experience of growing up with a cousin with severe disabilities. Since that time, she has worked with children on the spectrum from 2-8 years old in the school setting and 1:1 in-home therapy. She has gained extensive experience with PECS (picture exchange system), DTT (discrete trial teaching), PRT (pivotal response teaching), and parent training. She has recently finished the courses necessary for the BCaBA exam, which she plans on taking in September of 2010. In the future, she plans to combine her two passions- yoga and helping individuals with special needs- and teaching yoga to adults and children on the autism spectrum.
