There are lots and lots of ways to reach the site but, for contributors, basically two ways to write blogs and articles (well, 2.5, but one is quite rare.) There are significant new releases of various browsers out there and those always bring some problems. Firefox 3 we anticipate issues because, really, Firefox 2.X never worked all that great, so we're still testing that on various configurations (primarily XP and Vista - everything else works okay.) Sometimes you just have to wait until they fix the problems they introduce, else a small group like ours ends up fixing and re-fixing new things that are introduced anew in a month. Most of the problems will only occur in one article entry configuration so it should have little impact. By default articles are entered using HTML, where basically you just write what you want and then add in HTML commands for links, graphics, etc. You can also enable 'Word processor mode' instead, either on an individual article or by editing your settings and enabling it permanently. That Word processor is a source code called TinyMCE, which is a javascript WYSIWYG editor. There are going to be some issues between that and the new releases of two browsers, Firefox 3 and Opera 9.5. With Firefox 3 in Word Processor mode the picture entry popup box will be about half size and tables will be basically unusable because its entry width is the size of my finger. With Opera 9.5 the URL link button will not work. We'll get those fixed (50% of our readers use Firefox but it's unclear how many writers do) and I assume most writers use the HTML mode rather than Word mode, so the impact should be fairly small but we want you to know we know and we'll fix it as soon as they decide what fixes they will make after getting user feedback over the mass releases. Internet Explorer still basically stinks and there's nothing we can do about that unless Microsoft rewrites our website, though I am betting even they don't know why it does some of the things it does.
