TOKYO (MarketWatch) -- A flailing economy and record crops have worked to pull corn prices some 20% off their 2009 peak, but analysts say the move's only a temporary setback with an economic recovery underway and ethanol demand on reliable footing, ready to lend a hand. "Nearly a third of the domestic corn output in the U.S is being used for ethanol production and this volume is set to expand even further going forward," analysts at Commerzbank wrote in a recent research note. "This should push up prices." "During the last day of the summit (18 December) when the talks had reached an impasse, it was the intention of European Nations and the US to announce the breakdown and hold the four Basic nations (India, China, Brazil and South Africa) accountable for its failure," Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said addressing the Aspen Institute of India recently.
Pollution control: India ranks 123rd IANS, 29 January 2010, 04:02am IST | WASHINGTON: India and China rank 123rd and 121st in pollution control respectively, reflecting the strain rapid economic growth imposes on the environment, according to the 2010 Environmental Performance Index (EPI). However, among the other newly industrialised nations Brazil and Russia rank 62nd and 69th, suggesting that the level of development is just one of many factors affecting pollution control. Iceland leads the world in addressing pollution control and natural resource management challenges, according to the index produced by a team of environmental experts at Yale University and Columbia University.
Since the start of UN after the world war II how much money has been spent by its different bodies  in total through an army of organisations and what is the total outcome of the environmental situations globally. Have things improved or deteriotated in last 60 years . Is the money flowing iinto various activities has been accounted  for ?  Is there environmental audit ? How much forest cover has increased globally ? Has the enviroment improved a bit? If yes or no is the answer I dont know what should I say ?
