LONDON, December 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- UK IT teams are delivering technology change and managing data growth on tightening budgets according to a new 2011 IT Managers viewpoint survey conducted on behalf of BIS Limited, a leading owner and operator of secure, expertly managed London data centres and outsourced IT services.

According to the new survey of over 250 London IT Managers, 62% of survey respondents rank managing technology upgrades as their top 2011 challenge. This was followed by budget constraints at 55%, storage growth at 47%, network congestion and reliability at 44% and application management and support at 40%.

"The pace of technology change is accelerating as IT managers virtualise servers, storage, desktops and applications to save costs on the one hand; and struggle with the additional costs required for exponential data growth and network congestion and reliability on the other," said Brian Packer, Operations Director of BIS Limited. "Given that cost control is likely to remain a key focus for most organisations throughout 2011, it's important to find the right flexible IT partner who can help implement change cost-effectively."

Many IT Managers are now dealing with an ageing IT infrastructure as they deferred investments due to the global economic conditions in 2009 and 2010. Network congestion and connectivity are also becoming more problematic as the trend to centralise services continues. This has increased WAN reliance, especially as individual users are increasingly working remotely or going mobile.

BIS has already seen a 21% uplift in its 2010 revenues as new clients shun the big name IT managed service brands in favour of its more flexible, supportive and cost-effective approach. Whilst price remains important, BIS has noticed a shift in buyers purchasing criteria towards responsiveness and one-stop value added services.
