SAN FRANCISCO, July 10 /PRNewswire/ --

GoCar, the original GPS-Guided Tour company that launched in April 2004 in San Francisco, has made the big leap from the USA into the European market with the addition of locations in Barcelona and Lisbon. The addition of EU locations takes the total number of GoCar locations to 5 across the globe; the others being San Francisco, San Diego and Miami.

Barcelona was the first location to open in EU and is the larger scale launch with 20 GoCars that will rise to 40 cars within next 6-9 months. The GPS Tour Network in the city offers multiple tour routes that give different perspectives on this unique Catalan city of culture. These include a Downtown and Park Tour that encompasses the Olympic Park in MontJuic and also the uptown tour that visit Goudi's Park Guell and FC Barcelona's home at Camp Nou. Tours are available in English, Spanish & Catalan.

Lisbon launched in late-June with 10 GoCars with plans to go to 20 soon after. Their GPS Tour Network includes three tours that offer a broad cross section of this unique city, its history, its present day hotspots, and The Expo; Lisbon's city of the future. Tours are available in English and Portuguese. With its echoes of San Francisco, with its own replica of the Golden Gate Bridge and its cable cars, Lisbon is a natural addition to the global GoCar GPS Tour network and completes GoCar's coverage of the Iberian Peninsula.

The GPS software that drives the GoCar tour experience was developed in San Francisco and is licensed to the operators in Europe via a franchise agreement. It offers a versatile platform to deliver location-based experiences in multiple languages and multiple themes. It enables a tour designer to "draw" the tour onto a Google-Map type interface and imbue the tour with well-timed, speed sensitive, direction sensitive, as well as location-sensitive audio narration. The company has filed a patent in the EU patent office covering its unique way of delivering location-based content.

The EU market with its rich cultural diversity and, its growing roster of member states that has spurred cross border travel and tourism, bodes well for GoCar's global expansion plans.
