MIAMI, April 2 /PRNewswire/ --

Masada Resource Group, a Birmingham, AL provider of waste-to-ethanol technology, was recognized today as one of the top five infrastructure projects for Latin America at the 6th Latin American Leadership Forum in Miami. Masada presented on its Waste-to-ethanol project in the Dominican Republic. Masada teamed with Dominican-based RJ Zapata and Associates, SA last November to form W2E Resources, SA, and its waste-to-ethanol company in the Dominican Republic.

Tim Judge, Masada's Vice-President for Operations, said the company was pleased to be recognized as a top infrastructure project for Latin America. "We are developing commercial-scale waste-to-ethanol plants around the globe. It is very gratifying to be recognized for this project and as an international leader in waste-to-ethanol technology. The development of these projects will benefit the environment and will help make Latin American more competitive by producing renewal fuels and lessening their dependence on foreign oil," said Judge.

Masada was recognized during a panel session on top new infrastructure projects moderated by Jacques Beaudry-Losique, a top US Department of Energy official in the Office of Biomass Program.

In addition to Latin America, Masada has international projects in development in North America, the Caribbean, Asia and Europe.
