GAITHERSBURG, Maryland, January 30 /PRNewswire/ --
- The Model 1173 simplifies IP Camera deployment and lowers installation costs by extending streaming video up to 6000 feet/1830 meters over existing copper infrastructure
Patton Electronics -- the leader in business and carrier-class network access, connectivity, and Voice-over-IP equipment -- unveils the world's first IP Camera Extender, the Patton Model 1173, at IIPSEC 2008 in Coventry, UK this week.
Compatible with any IP camera on the market, Patton's latest network-extension innovation is optimized to deliver high-quality streaming video over ordinary copper telephone wire at up to 50 Mbps. For video-over-Ethernet applications, Patton's Model 1173 reduces infrastructure costs and simplifies installation by eliminating new CAT5 or co-axial cable requirements.
"The market trend is everything over Ethernet," said Johnnie Grant, Product Manager. "Patton technology takes video-over-Ethernet faster and farther over voice-grade copper. The 1173 addresses an amazing breadth of applications."
Enclosed in ruggedized metal and operating at temperatures of -10 degrees to 70 degrees C, the Model 1173 enables video deployment without infrastructure upgrades in such diverse scenarios as retail outlets, banks, power plants, railways, marine vessels and agricultural operations. Optional conformal coating offers additional protection from condensing humidity.
"There are lots of places where installing CAT5 or co-ax isn't an option," Mr. Grant continues. "The Model 1173 makes IP-video a possibility anywhere there's a twisted pair. Just find an alarm circuit or a phone cable and drop it in. Problem solved."
In older physical plants (factories, barns, oil rigs) where video surveillance is required, the IP Camera extender prolongs the life of aging twisted-pair infrastructure almost indefinitely. In locations with installed CAT5, the 1173 enhances the CAT5 network by extending video far beyond the 328 foot limit.
The 1173 extends IP video up to 6000 feet/1830 meters (15 times the Ethernet distance limitation) at 4 Mbps and up to 2000 feet/610 meters at 50 Mbps. The wall and DIN-rail mountable 1173 is fully transparent to WMV, MPEG-4, and MJPEG compression schemes.
During 29-31 January, Patton's Global Partner, Amplicon, displays the Model 1173 (along with Patton's benchmark-setting CopperLink(TM) Ethernet Extenders) at IIPSEC 2008, Stand 005.
"There couldn't be a more relevant product," David Evans, Security Automation Manager at Amplicon, stated. "I am really looking forward to showing it off!"
