About Amir D. Amir D. Aczel, Ph.D., studied mathematics and physics at the University of California at Berkeley and also holds a doctorate in mathematical statistics. He is the author of the international bestseller "Fermat's Last Theorem," as well as 18 other books on science and mathematics, including "Present at the Creation"--which tells the story of CERN, the Large Hadron Collider, and the Higgs boson. Aczel also writes newspaper and magazine articles about science, and has won both Guggenheim Foundation and Sloan Foundation fellowships. He was a visiting scholar in the history of science at Harvard University in 2005-7, and is currently a research fellow in the history of science at Boston University. His latest book is "Why Science Does Not Disprove God" (HarperCollins, 2014) and it argues against the theory of Lawrence M. Krauss, who claims in the name of physics that the universe came "out of nothing."
